Steady Job History: While you are looking for a home, don't switch jobs during that time. In fact, it's best to stay in the same line of work for at least 2 years.

Check Your Credit History Thoroughly: Lenders like to look at credit histories. This lets the lender make a more informed decision regarding loan prequalification. You may even pay the difference between the loan and the sales price if you agree to purchase the home at the price that was originally offered. To do this, you need to have disposable cash and should ask the question of whether or not the property is likely to hold its value. Consider the type of loan you qualify for. For instance, if you would need to move suddenly and the loan is larger than the value of the property, the loan can be very difficult to pay off.
